On May 30, 2007 our community suffered the loss of a great man and sustained the first casualty of war since Vietnam. SSG Charlie Bagwell was killed in Afghanistan when a rocket-propelled grenade shot down his Chinook helicopter. We have since joined together as a community to welcome our soldier home, and now we have the opportunity to join together again as a community to pay tribute to the sacrifice of our beloved soldier.

The SSG Charlie Bagwell Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established by several members of the 1997 Rosman High School graduating class, as a tribute to our fallen hero. No greater honor have we had than to have known and befriended such a brave man. He was a true friend to all who knew him, and a hero to all of those he fought to protect. It is our hope that we may be able to pass along our joy in the memories Charlie left with us through scholarships to well-deserving students, as they pursue their academic endeavors.

Please join us in commemorating the life and service of our hometown hero through donations to the SSG Charlie Bagwell Memorial Scholarship Fund. If we all give some, we can honor one who gave all.
